Sweet Things

Happy new week, Darlings ...
As you walked through this past weekend ...

I hope it was filled with SWEET things ...

... like the taste of sweet treats ...

... the scent of sweet memories ...

... the promise of sweet romance ...

... and, of course, the very sweet time
you take just for yourself ...
time to relax and recharge ...

As for me, my weekend was filled with
SWEET things such as
sleeping in {just a little},
a delicious strawberry waffle breakfast out and
a country club dinner al fresco
under this red umbrella
with a view of a beautiful golf course ...

Time this weekend (and everyday these days!) was also spent
dreaming SWEET color scheme dreams
for our new historical house.
Since our style of home is sometimes called a
"wedding cake"
we will have the exterior painted
in a pretty pale, pale blue-green called
Benjamin Moore's "Icing on the Cake" next year.
The plan is shiny black shutters, door &
elegant shiny black floors on porches.
Porch railings and all trim will be white.
Similar to this townhouse on my Pinterest boards:

But, "Icing on the Cake" is much lighter,
very similar to the background color
you see on the blog.
 So pretty, don't you think?

For the interior,
I haven't decided yet.
I want to be ready to paint when the walls are
finally all ready and that will be very shortly .. help!

Normally, I would most likely go with neutrals
for the wall colors (i.e. taupes or pale grays), but I decided
maybe I wouldn't do that after
I removed the taupe painted-over-grasscloth wallpaper
that a previous owner had left up
(as you saw previously in my breakfast room in this post)
and white plaster walls were revealed.
The white suddenly made the rooms
feel SO much more light and airy.
I'm enamored with talented designer
and her beautiful designs and use of color.
I want a very happy house, so
I'm thinking either of going with an all-white scheme
(except for pretty glossy black interior doors throughout)
with hits of golden yellow here and there,
as if the yellow are hits of sunshine everywhere.
This idea came from these rooms of Mary's ...

The second scheme choice would be
using the same "Icing on the Cake" color
that we use on the outside of the house in the same way
that yellow is used above,
with hits of it throughout.
If I go with that scheme, I may also paint the breakfast room
in that color of pale blue-green.
I had a previous kitchen painted in that color
in a previous house and it was lovely with the white marble.
But ... I LOVE the golden yellow sunshine idea too ...
what do you think, stylish readers?
Would LOVE your opinions!

Maybe I should combine both colors like
Mary Douglas Drysdale did in this room:

Hmmmmmmmmm.

In closing, as usual, I also spent
lots of time wrapping up several illustrations
for some lovely clients in the studio.

One of those was a
quick fashion illustration
requested for the
Miss Bahamas Universe Pageant 2012,
featuring Herve Leger designer swimwear.
You can read the first press on the event
here in The Bahamas Weekly.

The illustration above will appear
on a banner at the Pageant
I am told.  Fun!

Have a great week, everyone!
What have you been up to?
I'd love to know!
