Mother's Day Shopping with the Girls

the Ooh La Frou Frou girls
have been busy doing one of their favorite things ...
shopping, of course!
With Mother's Day in mind (Sunday, May 8),
the girls have been wandering in and out of stores in the city
and searching websites,
looking for little treasures for their lovely mothers.
This week, we're checking in with Ooh La Frou Frou girl, Sunny ...
she's excited to be the one
to share a handful of gift ideas with you,
our Glamorous Girlfriends ...

Sunny here, girls!
I hope you all had a wonderfrul weekend!
I think a good way to start Mother's Day shopping
is with the perfect Mother's Day Card!
After all, the perfect card
can sometimes inspire the perfect gift.
And you can check "buy a card" off your to-do list
when you order this card from Ooh La Frou Frou!

"Mother's Day Love"
is the name of our charming new card
that stars nobody other than you and your mother ...
how perfect is that?!

On this card illustration,
the mother on the left is holding a notebook that says
"Our Family Recipes,"
to represent all that our mothers give to us.
The daughter on the right is holding a small gift behind her back.
Inside Message
Printed on Pink Paper:
A little treasure for you, Mom,
for all of the treasures you've given me.
Happy Mother's Day!

To order "Mother's Day Love," go here.

Other Card Details:
This card is heavily embellished with crystals.
There are crystals on the mother's dress, on the
Mother's Day gift in the daughter's hands,
as well as on the toes of their glamorous shoes ...
all of these glittery crystals make
"Mother's Day Love"
sparkle with .... love!
The card comes with a raspberry envelope
with pale pink envelope liner.
All Ooh La Frou Frou individual cards
are protected with a clear cello-wrapper.

Now for a few gift ideas ...
with warm weather ahead, your mom may
be planning a little beach getaway
or she may need something fashionable
to protect her face from the sun while
shopping, taking walks, dining alfresco or gardening.
I love the the idea of taking a simple, summer straw hat
and combining that with other items to create
a fun "looking-forward-to-summer" gift package!
Here are a few hats we think are tres chic for mom:

This cute black and white striped hat is $24.95 and
would look oh-so-glamorous and very Old Hollywood
when combined with a black bathing suit ...
or you could simply include an invitation to your mom inside the hat
for lunch and an afternoon of
bathing-suit or bathing-suit-cover-up shopping ...
with you!

This Shapeable Poolside Sunhat from Coolibar is $44,
comes in a variety of colors and has a luxurious 7 l/2" wide-wire-brim
that would allow your mom to shape it for the best sun protection.
You could combine it with summer sandals and perhaps
a pretty matching summer nail polish!

The Lauren Crochet Seaside Stripe Hat
from Ralph Lauren is oh-so-very elegant ...
can't you just see your mom holding an umbrella drink in this hat?
Ooh-La-La Mama!
It has a 7" brim with lots of fashionable sun protection.
A little pricier (at $98), it would make a lovely gift on its own!

Speaking of summer and vacations,
if you're going for a beach-themed gift,
we'd ALL love one of the fabulous brand new
beach totes from Louis Vuitton ...

but since these lovelies are priced in the neighborhood of
$1400-$1850 each,
most of us couldn't afford them.
If you'd like a cute tote for your Mom,
we have another fun idea.
Snaptotes has small, medium and large bags
that you can personalize with photos ...
if you'd like your bag to look more artistic and painting-like,
you could use a scene from one of her vacations
such as a beach scene or landscape ... perhaps
a close-up of the flowers in her garden last year?
This large tote is $80 ...

and this petite bucket is $65 ..

Pretty adorable, don't you think?

If your mom is all about her home, office or studio,
we have a treat for you ...
featured recently on Steven and Chris ...
it's IOMOI!
This is how it works ...
first you pick the gift (we love these trays!) ...
then you pick one of their fabulous patterns ...
and then they personalize your tray with the pattern
and your initials or name!  Too fabulous!

There are so many patterns to choose from ...

Isn't this personalized desk blotter simply gorgeous?

It's such a fun site and it's filled with ideas!
I also LOVE these plates ...

I could spend all day on this site!

Another fun place to go is an Etsy store called Nella Designs.
If your mom has an adored pet,
Nella Designs can use a photo of the pet
to create an 8" x 10" print with a white border
suitable for framing for only $35 ...
you choose the background color and words!

We also love the family design
and thought it would be perfect for Mother's Day ...
if you have a photo of you and your mother,
you could use that photograph
and perhaps say something like
"Like Mother Like Daughter"

Thanks for joining us this week
as we get ready for Mother's Day, girls!

Have a fabulous week!

  1. Lovely post Sandy. What gorgeous gifts; and your card is divine. Unfortunately Mothers Day was last week in the UK. However, those LV totes are too good to resist (I feel a very expensive purchase, and possibly a divorce, coming on!)

  9. awww wow.... I love this post and it made me tear up for personal mother related reasons i wish I could share. love the gift ideas, especially the bags...the one with the dog is perfect. I wonder if you can get one personalised, then you can use like a childhood photo and have it on the bag, that would make for a perfect gift for mothers day.

  10. Ruby: Hi lovely. I'm curious which hat you liked the best .. No. 1, 2 or 3? They'd look rather glamorous, don't you think, with a long chemise with spaghetti straps this summer? I so enjoyed the lovely photos you had taken and displayed on facebook! Charming poses ;) xo

stylemefab: Hi sweetie .. so sorry I made you tear up. We'll move on so I don't do it again! Yes, the dog bag and the bag above it are from the same company and the pictures that are on them are just samples of what you can do .. they're all meant to be personalized ... a mom's vacation beach photo or a close-up of her garden flowers from last year would be pretty, wouldn't it? Thanks, sweet, for stopping by ~ and have a lovely week! xo

  27. Oh dear! Mother's day...must admit it has slipped my mind! Good thing I read this lol! Anyway, I love that the card is heavily embellished. Nothing could be prettier and more feminine! As for the gift ideas, I love the idea of a wide hat, but I think my mom would love a Lucite tray. She's all about practicality!

  41. I love the card----it's cute, cute, cute!! Very modern and very OC wives and their daughters-like, too! But classier--love the pink and the little gift behind her back.
The handbags are extreme for me--I like bags that are a bit more 'tame' and not as trendy; however, I love the hats---VERY Sex and the City-like!
My daughters are taking me out for Mother's Day....maybe I shall have to wear a hat!
    Love you!!
