DOORMEN AND BUTLERS
Happy Friday, everyone!
I hope everyone had a great week ...
I've been really busy this week creating the sketch
of an elaborate, chic Parisian scene for a custom illustration,
so I've been very, very busy!
But, more about that later!
Ready for another post in the new Inspired series?
You may have joined me for the very first one last Friday.
Inspired posts are simply posts featuring images
of something that inspires me and ends up in my illustrations.
You'll notice that many things that inspire me
are the details of luxury or elegance, often found in the city.
Last week's Inspired post featured the elegant awnings
that dress grand entrances or windows
of elegant hotels, restaurants or stores.
This week, I'm going to send us off into the weekend
dreaming of having our own doorman or butler!
Whenever I'm in the city,
I have always loved seeing doormen.
I just love their uniforms, the way they stand at attention
outside a beautiful hotel as I walk in for lunch or
how they stand there greeting those as they
enter a high-end store on Fifth
or maybe an elegant apartment building on Park Avenue.
I've taken many photos of doormen on my own
when I've had my camera along, always looking for
the perfect scene for a painting.

Butlers also fall into the same category of luxury for me.
You don't often see butlers unless you are lucky enough
to be staying in one of the hotels that has a butler on each floor,
but tuxedo-clad waiters
in restaurants with crisp white tablecloths
count as butlers to me, as well.
You may remember this little
pen and ink and watercolor illustration of mine
of a city girl leaving her apartment building ...
notice the awning and the doorman?
Told you! haha

Okay ... we all deserve our own
doorman and butler ...
we can always dream, right?
