With visions of colorful leaves to come
dancing in our heads ...
... my husband and I
decided that this last weekend
was the perfect time to
have a little private
"Welcome Fall Party."
With Autumn's arrival right on our doorstep
(officially beginning this Saturday!)
we wanted to enjoy the feeling of
starting the fall fun early.
So, we took a leisurely drive out to our favorite
farm stand and bought four 7' tall bunches of these ...
.. they had these beautiful gourds there ...
... and we bought two of these ...
... and two of these in brilliant orange ...
... and couldn't get away without claiming
some of these ....
After tying our cornstalks to the top of our car
and nestling our pumpkins, mums & raspberries inside ...
we headed here ...

It was a glorious pre-fall weekend.
We tied our cornstalks with
fall-colored organza ribbon to our porch posts
and placed our mums and pumpkins there too ...
and a walk to the art and antiques fair
that was in our park just
down the street from us
topped the weekend off perfectly ...
Are you getting anxious for fall glamour?
Do you plan on doing any fall decorating?
Hanging leaf ornaments from chandeliers,
perhaps, or dressing in an autumn ballgown
just for the fun of it,
like the girl in one of my illustrations?
I'd love to hear!

Love this!!! Yay! Fall! Even though we're experiencing Indian Summer here in Paris!
I LOVE the illustration of the girl hanging autumn leaves and acorns from the chandelier!!
xo de Paris!
The trees... the colors... those are the reasons I love fall. I didn't growing up having seasons, so my appreciation for it is at a different level than some. ;)
Those tree images are so gorgeous Sandy. I am all ready for Fall as this season just never existed in Spain. It was either Winter or Summer, so I'm getting excited about Autumn. TYSM Sweets for your lovely words over at mine also. They truly meant so much to me, and I wish I had known what you were going through last year; heartbreaking. I'm sure even now the pain is still raw. Sending you love and hugs Angel.
Your gorgeous post has really got me in the mood for autumn - such a riot of autumn colour - love the acorns and pumpkins - amazing images!

Oh you must have had a wonderful time! The pics are absolutely gorgeous, they are making me pine for fall too!
It has been so hot and humid this summer that I have been aching for fall since the beginning of August!
A Welcome Fall party sounds just lovely and it looks like you took in some wonderful pre-fall sights. I don't really decorate for the season but I'm looking forward to finding some piles of pretty autumn leaves to jump around in. I love your new illustration! It's gorgeous and puts a new spin on fall glamour! Totally going to pin it :)
Have a splendid week Sandy!
