INSPIRED

INSPIRED
BEAUTIFUL AWNINGS
Because we all need a little inspiration
to tuck into our pockets as we head into the weekend,
I thought Friday would be the perfect day to
feature a post on a new series called
INSPIRED.

INSPIRED posts will flood us with images of an item that
either inspires me or that you've mentioned inspires you!

This time it's ...
BEAUTIFUL AWNINGS.
Do you love them too?

I'm positively drawn to them ...
they never fail to evoke a feeling of
elegance to me, whether I'm walking under one that
stretches out onto the sidewalk and leads to a
chic restaurant or luxury apartment building,
or perhaps stepping into a boutique graced with one or
standing on the sidewalk looking up at
rows and rows of crisp awnings on luxe hotel windows.

Because I love them, you're sure to see
some gorgeous awnings in some of my illustrations!
So come with me ... let's virtually walk
under some of these beauties to start the weekend!

Doesn't this make you wish we'd booked a reservation
at one of these restaurants or hotels?
Are there particular awnings that you've seen that are beautiful?
If so, I'd love to know about them!
I love to keep these details in the back of my mind
for future illustration inspiration!

Have an inspiring weekend, everyone!

I adore awnings. I'm not certain why, but they are the "dressing " of doorways and windows. I like striped ones for Sharp graphic contrast and pale ones that are elegant and soft. Black and white stripe is dramatic, cream or white is subtle and chic. Curved are the best and multiples on one building are dramatic!!
Have a great weekend,
Jennifer

I'm sure we are all going to love this 'Inspired' series. I enjoy themed posts and seeing all these gorgeous awnings in one place is a delight. I just wish I could be walking through that Ladurée door today. Thank for your lovely comment - always good to hear from you! Have a lovely weekend, Sandy.

Hi sweety, how are you doing? I am loving this 'Inspired' post...I haven't paid that much attention to awnings before but after viewing these images, i realize how much they add to the beauty and character of a building. Have an awesome weekend.

I have to admit I've never really noticed awnings all that much but you've totally "inspired" me otherwise and I will open up my eyes to see their beauty. This makes me want to run up to Fifth or Madison and admire some now on;y's below freezing in NYC now and I'm n the midst of a retouching project but I will definitely pay attention next time I'm uptown. Thanks for the lovely images.

Have a fabulous weekend dear Sandy!
I'm feeling so much better these days :) Thanks!

Wow! the awnings you picked are stunning. I couldn't pick a fav even if I tried. Awnings always epitomize "luxury" for me whether they are on a hotel, public place or a house. I will certainly be more aware of them as I walk around London now.
Happy weekend Sweets.
