It's Christmas Time In The City

~ Hello Lovelies! ~

 is in the air ...
and a certain childlike wonder surrounds us all.
~ The sheer joyfulness of the season ~
makes us feel so alive, don't you think?

Even though the city snowflakes aren't quite falling yet,
we know they're not very far away.

~ And since we're feeling rawwwwther childlike with wonder ~
we might as well revel in it
and put away our grown-up schedules for a moment
to scoop up some of the magic of childhood
and bring it into our adult world ...

C'mon, glamorous ones ...
let's enter another Ooh La Frou Frou fantasy
and find our childhood selves ...

~ Suddenly ~
we're in the city with the
Ooh La Frou Frou illustrated City Girls
and snowflakes are gently falling ...

To start, we could relax and laugh over
Serendipity
Frrrozen Hot Chocolate
while the city bustles by outside below us ...

We could take a walk through Central Park ...
but instead of just walking by with heads down
and our i-phones to our ears,
we could stop and
put our noses up to a pine,
close our eyes
and let the scent help us to ....
 remember.

We could walk along the city streets,
taking in the dreamy lights ...
made all the more magical as the sun goes down ...
{are you feeling childhood magic returning?}

All of this childlike awe
certainly doesn't have to lessen
as we leave
that "little girl" that we used to be
 behind ...
just remember this, darling ...
~ you never really left her ~
so carry that magic and fantasy
into your day everyday ...

We really are still the same, you know ...
our toys are just much much more fun ...
~ for instance ~
our snow forts are now castles ...

~ our skirts are now frothy as the snow and come with jewels ~

~ our crayons and paints have been replaced
with something much more glamorous ~

~ and each new day we wake and look into our mirrors
at a fresh new canvas to decorate ~

~ finally, when we're satisfied with our creation,
we can add the perfect finishing touch of sparkle ~

Since we've been taking you to some of the holiday windows
of one New York City store each week,
let's walk by a few of Bergdorf-Goodman's windows ...
chosen for this week because they're a mix of
childhood whimsy and grown-up glamour.
This year the Bergdorf-Goodman window theme is a
Carnival of Windows.

"Brass Menagerie"

"Teacher's Pet"

"Artists and Models"

I wanted to close
with a bit of fabulous!
Since we're taking the magic of childhood
and bringing it into our grown-up world,
this fabulous Dior film
is the perfect finish for this post!
Complete with
 pink clutches setting on chandeliers
and sparkling gold glitter for snow,
this Dior film is a whimsical and glamorous bit of joy ...
{for full impact, be sure to make the film full screen by clicking
on the lower right hand corner to enlarge and then
hitting "escape" after viewing to come back to the blog}.

fantasy trip to Ooh La Frou Frou in the city ...

Mary Jo ~ Trust Your Style: I know! Very dangerous having the recipe lying around but sooooo delicious! Can't wait to try it! ;) Have a wonderful week, sweets! xo

Chic in Vancity: Thanks so much Bella! Hope your holidays are magical! xo

Annemarie ~ Brunch at Saks: Hi sweet Annemarie! Thank you ~ I'm so glad you loved your mini-trip to NY and I hope your holidays in LA are just as magical! xo

Sonia Daigle: Oh, Sonia! How exciting! Let's hope that the snowflakes that are delayed this year will be gently falling on you while you stroll the streets! But even if they don't show up, NY is simply magic! Hope you and your beau make many NY memories to last a lifetime! And so glad you get a bit of the city with Ooh La Frou Frou each week ~ xo

Kristin: I think NY is fabulous anytime of the year (I know you do too!) but the the holidays are unlike anywhere else I know!

Fashionista 622: Thank you, darling. Glad you enjoyed the reminder of childhood wonder. I do find that once you get in the habit of bringing more childhood into your life, the more joy enters it. I consciously try to "play" every chance I can get. Remember the joy of heading outside to "play" and coming back inside for some hot cocoa and your cheeks are so cold and the warmth of the house and the cocoa tastes so good? As adults, we run from the car to the door and from the door to the car and that joy becomes just a memory. When I consciously do something that I did as a child again as an adult, it does really bring back some magic! Hope your holidays are magical, sweetie! xo

Clara Turbay: Thank you so much, Clara! So glad that you are a part of Ooh La Frou Frou! xo

All the sparkle, the childhood nostalgia, the glamour, you've evoked so beautifully the magic of Christmas, Sandy! It would be wonderful to see more people looking around, stopping in front of the window displays, talking to each other and smiling than with their eyes in their phones. Today I stopped to admire a gorgeous pine, huge and beautifully decorated somewhere in the city, oh my, the smell of fresh pine is incredible. I can't wait to get mine this week. xoxo
