Easter Best

Happy April, Wonderfuls!
And to me that means that
Spring
is even more officially here!

via

If you celebrate Easter,
you may be dreaming up menus
for an Easter brunch, tea, lunch or dinner
that will be happening in less than a week ...

via

Easter is my favorite holiday for entertaining.
I love creating beautiful spring tablescapes.
Are you as excited as I am
about the warm days to come?

via

With the very busy illustration schedule I've had lately,
{creating some very chic things for chic people},
my free time has been ... well, pretty much nonexistent!
{Thankfully I have fun when I'm illustrating!}
This little Easter post is rather like a breather for me,
relaxing and chatting with you as if you were right here ...
if you were, we'd probably be
sitting with our feet propped up, talking about what's new.
So glad you could come ...
iced tea or pink lemonade, anyone?

Since I've been so busy,
it's lucky for me that I'll only be required to bring
an appetizer & dessert this year
to my brother and his family's house for Easter dinner
following church together.
I'd love to hear how you will be spending the holiday
or what you look forward to most in spring!

Ever since I was a child,
a new Easter dress has simply been a part of the Easter fun
and I'll be looking for a little something new this week.
As I was looking for inspiration, I ran across these pretties ...
any one of these would be cute to slip into
for a springtime brunch, don't you think?
{Above Left to Right}
Lilly Pulitzer Whitaker Dress
 Anthropologie Blooming Whin Shift
Kate Spade Faye Dress
Kate Spade Garden Society Sonia Dress

If you show up looking that cute,
they simply have to feed you, right? {lol}
I thought I'd share just a few of the many delicious-looking
Easter recipes I've run across lately ...
I'll be keeping these ideas tucked away
for next year when I'm the Easter hostess again!

These Easter Bunny Orange Rolls
would be a darling whimsical addition
to an Easter brunch, don't you think?

And isn't this white chocolate
"bunny bait"
pretty and perfect for munching
while waiting for dinner?

There wasn't a recipe given for these
knotted dinner rolls, but I so love the way
the little chick's head was formed and placed
on a knotted roll and then baked ...
looks like they have raisins for eyes
and the beaks are just pinched!

via

These Easter Nests would be adorable at each place setting ...
made with chow mein noodles & marshmallows
in a muffin tin ...

Love the idea of playing with tradition
by changing up the filling of deviled eggs ...
these are Lemon Dill Chicken Salad Stuffed Eggs ...

I don't know why, maybe it's the pretty fresh-as-spring white,
but there's something I just love about coconut and Easter ...
{what am I saying ... I love coconut anytime!}.
I've made my delicious five-layer coconut cake with
custard filling and fluffy white frosting coated with coconut
many times for Easter in the past (soooo delish, I'm telling you!).
These yummy-looking cupcakes I found with
coconut milk in the batter and sprinkled lightly with coconut
look so light and fluffy,
I thought they'd be lovely stacked on a tiered server
and served as a second dessert choice
accompanying the richer dessert below!
Cupcake recipe from Martha Stewart.

This last recipe would make the perfect
Taaaaaa-Daaaaa for the main dessert ...
a luscious chocolate cake with ganache frosting,
milk chocolate shavings for the "nest" on top to hold the
chocolate truffles {or any pretty egg candies} ...

How could I finish without a little more whimsy ...
this time in the form of illustration.

I was sitting with my paintbrush and playing with
Easter egg designs and I came up with these ...
a Monogram egg would be cute
setting in a bed of Easter grass in an egg cup
and used as a place card, don't you think?
{Just stick a letter sticker on the egg,
 dye the egg and then peel the sticker off.}

And the pink egg with the Eiffel Tower?
Simply thought a French-inspired Easter basket
would be so pretty as a centerpiece
for a "Springtime in Paris" Easter brunch...
and Eiffel Tower Eggs would be very ooh la la!
When is an Eiffel Tower not ooh la la, right?
You could even do little white dots
all around the Eiffel Tower, like stars.
Don't know how you'd make this one
without painting on the Eiffel like I did here
in the illustration ... any ideas?
Hmmmmm ...

What do you think you'd find in a
Fashionista's Easter Basket?
{Besides jewelry, lipstick, perfume, etc. that is!}
Hey wait ... I want that Easter basket!
I think it would simply have to contain
 ultra-fashionable Easter eggs, no?
Perhaps like my
Chanel, TiffanyHermes
 Easter egg illustrations below?
{I so love getting carried away!}

Have a fabulous week filled with smiles, everyone!
Thanks for stopping by and chatting with me
while I mused a little upon Easter ...

and may your Easter and Everydays be filled with many treats!

Sandy, your Easter illustrations are so very pretty! Can't think of any lovelier card. :) Oh, I love this holiday too, because I get to spend it with my family. And one more thing: the tradition of buying something new especially for Easter must go on. :) Wishing you a wonderful week and a happy April! xo

Now I'm even more excited for Easter than I was to begin with! I love Easter. It so signifies Spring and rebirth. All of the beautiful blooms and colors. I always buy a new Easter dress every year too. I thought I had mine picked out but then I ended up wearing it to a bridal tea yesterday so I have to go shopping for another one. Oh well... :)

I'm celebrating two Easter's this year. Easter next weekend with J's family and then Greek Easter the following weekend with my family. Lots of celebrations. And come to think of it, I may need 2 dresses! :)

Have a wonderful week and a Happy Easter, Sandy! xoxo
